Musician Tate Hiebert had a fun encounter with Premier Wab Kinew and MLA JD Devgan in August 2026 at Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg. This is what Tate told us about what happened:

I was asked to play background music for the press conference with the Premier, the subject of it was unknown at the time. I played as they were setting up and I made up parody versions of songs that added Wab Kinew’s name into them.

I also wrote a silly little 30 second jingle about The Honourable Wab Kinew and after the conference was over MLA Jay Devgan asked me to come meet him.

I met him and then I asked if he wanted to hear the song I wrote for him and these pictures are when I sang it for him and he laughed.
