“A Winnipeg high school recently brought a pop of colour and a sense of joy to a nearby health centre.

Students from Collège Churchill High School visited Riverview Health Centre, a multi‐program facility providing rehabilitation, palliative care, and long-term care, to become teachers, leading painting sessions with residents.

Creativity shared between generations

Together, the students and residents, through an intergenerational program, created beautiful art pieces featuring everything from landscapes to flowers to butterflies.

“They were so helpful with the residents,” said Jake Bell, a student teacher who helped lead the program. “You could see them confidently take what they learned in class and pass it on.”

They used watercolour paints to create the pieces and later hung them in the facility’s solarium.”
